My buddy Roger is a big fan of the site Japan Probe. They have an eclectic collection of links, pictures, and video of Japanese cultural weirdness (which abounds).

So, today he drops me a link to this:

These videos are so over the top that we think that they need a new term to describe them. We propose:
Über the Top

Über the Top is for something that is so over the top that it goes beyond self parody and reaches a new level that is only describable using a work from another language.  Borat, for example, is over the top enough that no Kazakhs should reasonably take offense, because no person would believe that it was an accurate depiction of Kazakhs.  Once you watch the video above though, there should be no doubt that the Japanese have taken it to a whole other level entirely.

I'm pretty sure that the Japanese are evidence that if we ever come in contact with alien life-forms that we will have no hope of understanding them, because I sure as heck don't understand the people we have here on earth.
