It is, I suppose, a fact of married life that our spouses will continually surprise and amuse us. I never quite know what my wife will come up with next and I am always pleased when she throws me a curve ball.
The other day I headed into the kitchen for a snack only to be confronted by two new guardians on the sides of the doorway. On each side of the door, about 4 feet up, were little plaques of strangely elongated felines. I was both startled and amused by these stoic sentries - their placement brought to mind ancient temples or perhaps a ward to keep out evil spirits. Why Cats? Obviously, we're cat loves, but aren't cats mythological guardians against the supernatural? It is sad commentary on my google-fu that I was unable to confirm or dispute this assertion.
Normally, I am not a big fan of folk art, but I am delighted to have two new kitchen guardians.
